The Turtle Island Quartet (known as the "Turtle Island String Quartet" before the 2007 release of A Love Supreme: The Legacy of John Coltrane is a San Francisco Bay Area based jazz string quartet formed in 1985 and still actively touring worldwide and recording as of 2016. They are now celebrating their 15th album, "Confetti Man", showing once again a great jazz rhythmic sensibility.

They are the the first string quartet to achieve artistic and commercial success integrating classical music to jazz improvisation. They also play with multiple other musical styles, including  Bluegrass, European classical music, funk, jazz, Latin American music, and Indian classical music.
The title piece of the Confetti Man recording, a two movement work by group founder David Balakrishnan, has been nominated for a 2016 grammy in the Instrumental Composition category.
